First week of June was amazing. I was all on my toes geared up for the shoot. When I was preparing myself for the spring and summer, I did research of what and how is up for this season. I pretty much went through the runway shows of 2018 till date, followed designers, brands for Spring and Summer 2018. The research helped me understand the season’s colors, patterns, jackets, etc.
You can also go through my post on the Color of the season for spring 2018 and information on how i did the color analysis,
Many fashion enthusiasts run to stores for buying the new trends or stores can lure customers through attractive VM (Visual Merchandise). We tend to buy more and more. While I was preparing garments for the shoot. I realised that I own similar or mostly appropriate garments already.
I am going to share my thoughts/experience with you guys. When you want an upgrade or unique wardrobe for the season, what you need to do is explore your own wardrobe. Yes you heard it right. Everybody shops around throughout the year. Now a days nobody waits around for a special occasion for shopping. We own almost all the basics if you are shopping enthusiast like me. Mix and match is the best solution to all cries. Just few things to keep in mind while shopping. Whatever you buy, you should think about its durability and it should go with more outfits or can be reinvented.
Once in a while, a trip to thrift store can be beneficial. Whenever I suggest Thrift Store, the adjectives or description is always old, used, vintage, out of style and cheap priced. Yes for price it’s cheap, but the rest of it is not always true in fashion. Nothing really goes out of style unless you know how to turn it into a great style. Modernisation to old is the best thing to do in fashion. Now I won’t recommend you to buy tops or shirts at Thrift Store, what I would personally look for is Jackets, Skirts or sometimes you can find really well-tailored jackets for peanuts price. You can blend these items with your new clothes. That’s what I did for one of my looks in the shoot.
Here are some picture of my shoot. Not all the clothes are really old or bought from Thrift Store, but yes some of them are and paired with new ones.
For the First look: Red Dress
I bought it from Lifestyle brand. Frills, color red and lace pattern. It was bought a few months ago but it went with the spring/summer, pattern and style. The Chocker matches the lace pattern on the dress and it is contrast to the red. Azure blue is again another spring color. The whole idea behind this look is shining/blooming for the season. You finally shed off black winter jackets and you see green leaves, buds blooming. Red is happy and celebration’s color, hence welcoming the flowers & greenery.

Dress: Lifestyle brand
Second Look: Brown skirt with metallic crop top
Metallic is almost all season trend. Runways couldn’t get enough of it. Earthy colors are making their way in these shiny bright colors season. I bought this skirt at a thrift store. Its unique pattern went with the theme. The top from Forever XXI is embellished and easy to wear. Its metallic neutral color blended with the brown solid color (skirt).
In the background, it’s a beautiful scene. The look was elegant yet strong. It made me feel feminine with its fit and appearance but I looked fierce and bold. Same as the background with the little waterfall flowing down the solid rocks and wooden logs, Grace & fierce.

Skirt: Thrift Store
Footwear: Aldo Lovelyy
Third look: Blush Pink
Blush pink dress was bought from Forever XXI. The color and style of the dress was a well fit for the theme. It fitted as a bodycon dress. To keep it minimal even with the makeup or hair. For accessory, I made a headpiece (from scratch). It’s inspired by CHANNEL head pieces for its runway looks. Black net and 3D flowers. I have made those from paper but the construction and color combination is more realistic and it popped up in the pictures. I love this look more because it was not at all hard putting it together. I can wear the dress as it is nothing to pair with. Just the headpiece gave it the edge and made the entire look MORE!!!!!!!

Fourth look
My fourth look is more comfortable and classy. Flare pants is IN now-a-days. But I choose sating-silk flare pants which give a boho feel. The print on it is super elegant and goes with the feel of the fabric. Azure blue or baby boy blue coloured shirt with infamous cold shoulder style does complete justice with the theme. Its sort-of offbeat combination and colors are contrast and so is the pattern. It’s not a good idea to wear loose items on both – top and bottom, but this one worked. Shirring pattern highlights and draws the actual size of my waist. The flare to the pants hide my wide hips and draws the attention to my waist. Tucked in shirt falls loosely, but open shoulders gives the perfect width to my upper body and balance out my curvy silhouette.
